Reception at Park HillÂ
In our Reception class, we delve into various engaging themes such as personal identity, family, diverse cultures and beliefs, maintaining a healthy lifestyle including oral health, life cycles in the natural world, exploring our local surroundings, and understanding the past, present, and future. To foster a comprehensive understanding, children are able to enhance their knowledge through a variety of extra-curricular activities that seamlessly integrate into all facets of learning. We prioritise hands-on experiences and real-life activities within these topics, as we believe active engagement and enthusiasm are key ingredients for effective learning.
AÂ significant focus in Reception is placed on nurturing children's self-confidence and self-regulation skills. We integrate discussions about emotions, skills, and strengths into our daily timetable, aiming to enable children to express their ideas, desires, and interests confidently with both peers and teachers. Throughout the day, we offer diverse opportunities for communication. As the year progresses, we guide children in setting and working towards their individual targets, fostering personal development and providing opportunities for self-directed challenges and growth.
