Welcome to Early Years

We are very proud of the creative curriculum we offer here at Park Hill. The aim of our Early Years curriculum is to develop the children’s imagination, creativity and reasoning skills in order to stimulate and expand the functions of the brain. We believe this to be a more understanding and natural way of approaching education involving children in ‘first hand’ experiences.

Emphasis in our Early Years is on participation, investigation and deduction, giving rise to problem solving and discovery. Our highly skilled teachers are able to link all areas of the curriculum into the children’s learning environment. They can participate in a variety of activities linked to literacy, numeracy, expressive arts on a daily basis. The literacy aspects of the curriculum are taken from the ‘Letters and Sounds’ scheme.

More information

Key Person

We aim that the child will choose a key person who will be the person they bond closely with and they are supported by a second key person. All children are planned for individually and they will receive observations on Famly supported by a next step which helps us determine the immediate needs of the child to support their learning and development.

Settling In

We start with a 1 hour settling in session and we build up the sessions based on the child’s individual needs, to allow a smooth settling period for the child. We recommend that settling in sessions do not coincide a holiday immediately prior to starting at nursery.

Fees and Funding

The term after their 3rd birthday the children are eligible for 15 hour government funding and if their family circumstances allow they may be eligible for 30 hour funding.

Additional Support

At Park Hill we recognise that every child may at some stage require additional support, therefore here at Park Hill we ensure that we have individual knowledge of every child’s needs and set termly targets so that your child can move forward in their learning.

Early intervention is at the heart of our approach as we believe that this enables us to address a child’s individual needs effectively. Once a child has been identified as having a particular need they are provided with a variety of intervention groups which enable your child further support in the area they are experiencing difficulty with, be it writing, reading, fine or gross motor difficulties. These sessions are planned creatively with the children’s individual needs and interests by our experienced team of Learning Support Assistants, SEN Teacher and Class Teachers.
